Salzburg from the top of Untersberg

Seen here from the top of Untersberg - south of Salzburg, the fortress of Salzburg is in the middle of the picture with the dome of the cathedral to the left.

Untersberg is over 6000feet high, and still has snow lying - thick in places. It was used in the final sequence on The Sound of Music. The German border is just over the summit.

It is reached by a 25 minute bus journey from Salzburg (No. 25), and then a cable car ride, which takes 15 minutes.
