A glut of festivals

Does two count as a glut? A bit like buses, none for ages, then 2 come at once! This weekend is the start of the Oxford Literary Festival. On the spur of the moment I went to a really inspiring lecture by Karen Armstrong about her international charity which promotes compassion, kindness and understanding between cultures and individuals. You might imagine this would be a slushy kind of subject, but not at all.

I don't agree with all Armstrong's theological/philosophical points of view, but I love her way of thinking and explaining and her open mind.

Coming out from the Sheldonian and trying to keep the erudite atmosphere I unexpectedly came across the Oxford Chocolate Festival on Broad Street. Artisan chocolate and the cream of literary talent from far and wide. Good combination!
