I'm a day behind in posting, and my crappy mood today (Saturday 2/16) is the result of a stressful day on-call in the hospital. I had barely sipped my first cup of rotgut coffee from the nurses station when I was asked to pronounce the death of some poor old fellow who had just passed away. I didn't know him, didn't know his family, had never been involved in his care, yet here I was providing counseling and sad tidings. After that I think I just had post traumatic stress disorder all day and didn't feel like myself until I got out of the hospital in the late afternoon. All the other sadness and tragedies of the day merely compounded the effect.

Some days it just feels as if the planets are off kilter, like you are stuck in a very slowly tumbling avalanche, or you are falling through a time warp into a faraway sun.

So somehow this strangely angled sunrise fits my mood as I post it a day and a half late.
