Elcho Castle

When Bro4 finally got up this morning (9.45am) we got organised and headed out to make good use of our Historic Scotland membership.

We went to Stanley Mills where part of the old cotton mill has been restored by Historic Scotland and there are lots of kid friendly activities. The absolute favourite was, without doubt, the interactive water pump. Sloshing water through gates, spinning water wheels, watching it whirling down drains and when it was all calming down a big green button that released another torrent of water along the chutes. Fantastic fun and dripping sleeves on the way out.

A quick food stop and then off to burn off any remaining energy at Elcho Castle. I didn't let them go up on the roof this time, far too windy! They climbed up spiral staircases, had much hilarity finding all the toilets and then ran up and down the little hill in the sunshine.
