COCKLES N' MUSCLES
I've been a bit concerned about the food supply for our feathered friends following the 4 September and 22 Feb earthquakes. Experts tells us the earth was upthrusted by a metre at twice the speed of gravity !
As a result thousands of tons of new sand has covered the seafloor of the Estuary making food ( cockles and other shellfish ) hard to get at.
I was pleased to see that this South Island Pied Oyster-Catcher had scored himself a meal - a hope for the ongoing prosperity for these and the other Estuary dwellers
