Relics of the Student Army

These stacked wheel barrows were used by the Student Army after the February earthquake to remove liquefaction from homes, properties and streets.

Students are better known in the media for drunkenness and disorderly behaviour. They first took to the streets after the September earthquake. This time their response was even more immediate.

They've made a huge difference to individuals and the city as a whole. I think we have a collective sense of pride at work with what our students have done.
