Eastern Water Dragon

A wild eastern water dragon (Physignathus lesueurii) found at Ipswich, Queensland.

These inhabit wet areas of Eastern Australia where there are streams, rocks and ponds. Fortunately, these were in a public park so were fairly tolerant of human presence. That meant I was able to get quite close to it for this lizard's beautiful portrait.
