Afterglow..
Long the sky -- coal gray
I stood in the twilight
A cold breeze suddenly blew in
Leaves drifted down from the tree
Shuttering out the thin sky light
It appeared to be night
Stubbed out a cigarette
Struck a match
Through the broken window of my room
A personal sanctuary
I watched you across the street
You were there
A thin twist of smoke
Curled from the cigarette
I stared without expression
Watching the silence
Jumbled memories of everything we have once shared
Lingered in my mind
It began to rain
Evoked a feeling of pure calm
Taking my pains away, almost
Yours' is a face, I wanted to polaroid in my mind forever
It reminded me
Of summer past
Of bowls of dried rose petals
Of carefree laughter
Of innocent kisses
A silent cob
Fighting the unhidden tear
The emotion gave way
Warm tears flowed down my cheeks
Head in my hands
Silence..
The rain has gone
I can hear the cicada
Singing its song
The stars now scattered
The moon's glow
Flooding the world
Night has finally come
I turned & walked away...
