on the beach

We stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Qinhuangdao (lovely hotel- not sure about the location) which is apparently where some of the world's football teams stayed prior to the 2008 Olympics. It's right on the beach which in better weather, I imagine, would be very nice indeed. The beach is covered in little uniform mounds of sand which is the result of a team of 12 men filtering the sand through big nets to get rid of the shells, glass and litter. Brighton Beach could do with the same...
