Tulip
This simple but colourful flower originating in the mountains of Central Asia was the cause of Tulipmania in Europe in the 17C. Great sums of money changed hands for single bulbs of the favoured varieties and colours and fortunes were made and lost. Those who could not afford the bulbs commissioned paintings of the blooms to adorn their homes. It is still a great favourite and gives much pleasure in gardens in springtime.
A very warm and sunny day, at least 20 degrees. Moved the cows with their calves to new fresh pasture. The men then carried on fencing.
