shelter for the discarded parrots, is situated at the beautifully sloped plains above Herstelle. You just follow the path to the Abbey and higher up the hill you are suddenly surrounded by wide fields and the sky above was to-day blue as in summertime. A stark wind through the Weser-valley made Mischa and me think that up the plains it would be starker, but there was no wind at all.
From far you can hear the parrots scream, and near the farm a suddenly "hello"is heard too.
Nobody to see, but visitors are invited to enter the garden and look at the different cages, with name-plates on them, these tell the kind of parrot and where it comes from. There are also parrots that sit on benches outside.
We go round and round and admire the parrots, their colours and take photos.
Some are in bad shape but all are cared for and looked after and fed of course.
We had a very nice cycle-tour and an amazing encounter. We left some money in a box, and know we will come back some time.
Did I say that the weather was warm? It was and we enjoyed every minute of it.
