Reasons to visit Thirsk 8

Glorious weather this morning in Thirsk. The daffodils are in full bloom and the Parish church of St Mary's looked beautiful in the sunshine. It is a very large church and is described as 'a magnificent creation of the fifteenth century'. It is the church where Alf Wight (James Herriott) was married and can be seen from what was his vet practice, now a museum, nearer the town centre. I like the fact that the church is very often open as it was this morning to welcome visitors. Very often there are exhibitions of local craft work and you can get a super morning coffee and home made cakes in the crypt.

PS. If I might indulge in a quick moan. Thrilled that my camera decided to work again yesterday I expected to use it for today's blip. No such luck, for no apparent reason it has jammed again so had to use my little Ixus. The other one is now edging nearer to the dustbin!
