Monet in Real Time
Composition is a talent which can be applied to paintings, food presentation, life in general and in this case landscaping. John Isaac - former orchid selling competitor, fellow plant whacko and long-term (20 years?) wonderful friend - is a landscaper with the ability to visualize a beautiful garden and then make it happen. No pesticides but lots of appropriate feeding finalize in this display of compositional excellence - color balance, play of light and dark, movement and perfect stratification (and a stray Kalanchoe for interest?). What you don't see in this image are the vegetables that get used for texture and color in his landscapes and then in his salads! Which reminds me - I have to get out the slow-cooker (or as my mother would have called it - "crock pot") and make up a batch of Isaac greens and ham (sorry, no eggs, Mr. Geisel) and maybe some chard chips.
