Kaiserslautern, Willow Church
Spent the afternoon on the Kaiserberg in Kaiserslautern.
What you see is the inside of the Weidenkirche, a truly "living" church built in 2004 of 3000 m³ willow material. The willow is growing now. It is beautiful in there.
I cannot think of a better place to celebrate a mass.
The nave is 15 m long and 11 m wide.
The cupola is 15 m in diameter and 15 m high.
It's build in Gothic style.
Not visible:
The crucifix made of a cherry tree
The bell tower with a 60 kg bell with the engraving:
"Weidenkirche Kaiserslautern 2004 für Frieden und Freundschaft"
(Willow Church Kaiserslautern 2004 for Peace and Friendship).
