Chimney forest

East Cliff was formerly the Park Hotel, one of the grand 19th-century railway hotels. Turning its back to the station, it faces over Avenham Park and the Ribble valley. Now a social services office, it has been well maintained and the gardens at the front make an excellent lunch spot for office workers (assuming that local government staff have time for lunch in these days of cutbacks and pressure). When it was a hotel one assumes each room must have had its own fireplace, necessitating this complex structure of interconnecting chimneys. Who said bricklaying was easy?
