Butternut squash with ...

This was the butternut squash we were cooking for dinner, to be mashed with butter and black pepper. It accompanied pork chops in celery, apple and rosemary, braised in the oven for an hour and a half. Baked potatoes too. Then we had some of the classic sticky gingerbread with sour cream and a piece of crystalised ginger to decorate it. A very good family dinner.

Earlier today I found the potatoes were tall enough to start the 'earthing up' process. I got the other two potato bags planted up as well since the weather has upped its performance lately. I had a delivery of plug plants yesterday, so they have to be potted up and since five of them are tomato plants, the grow bags must be bought without delay. As well as the toms, there are pansies for window boxes, million bells to drape out of the window boxes, marigolds to keep the slugs off things, nicotiana to look splendid and two packs of herbs to keep the cooking interesting.

That should provide plenty of blipportunities.
