Bluebird in a special place
I took this shot of this little one at the serpantinite prairie on the fringe of Redwood Regional Park. Serpatinite is California;s state rock; it once lay on the bottom of the Pacific. It breaks down to form a soil that lacks nutrients, but many California wildflowers have adapted to using it as a substrate... today we found goldfields, blue eyed grass, California poppies, California buttercup and many more. And bluebirds were chasing insects over this area. A great April day!
