Manfred the Mammut
Today did the planned ride with Surly in beautiful spring weather, thermometer showed +8 degrees in the sun and there was only a light breeze coming from the northwest. Total ride was approx. 50km which is nice as usually do not ride more than 70-80km rides with the fixed configuration as on longer rides the same cadence and full pedaling without any breaks starts to wear you out.
Anyway the ride went surprisingly smoothly and almost took one more extra turn which would have brought 25km extra. BUT then got idea - instead of that extra leg decided to visit one log house factory nearby that had uncovered their mascot last week from its winter sleep, a mammut! Yes the company Mammuttihirsi (=Mammut log) has this quite huge mascot they use at fares and different occasions. Now the mammut was waiting at the trailer, most likely to be installed to the main gate of the factory area until some fares come along.
There is a nice story of the mascot, that at some fares it has been demanded that the mammut must use pants as its ..hmm.. organs are also real size and can easily be seen undeneath. Well I guess the company did not think of some tight religious folks when ordering "lifelike" mascot from somewhere ;)
PS: That bike giving some scale is size XL
