Petrifying

This is the Petrifying Well at Mother Shipton's in Knaresborough, Yorkshire. 
Check out the little teddies and hat hanging up and slowly turning into stone
 on the right hand side. A small ted will take 3 to 5 months to be transformed.

It is claimed to be the oldest tourist attraction in England as people have 
been paying to come and see it since 1630.

The well face has collapsed a couple of times in the past due to the sheer 
weight of mineral deposits. Nowadays it is scraped every couple of months 
to prevent this from happening.

Mother Shipton was a prophetess born in the 15th century who apparently 
predicted the internet, motor cars and the end of the world if the nearby
bridge was to collapse three times. It has already collapsed twice.
