Brighton Marathon

I like Brighton.
It always has a buzz about it. Today it had the same buzz but on acid. It was the Brighton marathon and everything that makes Brighton Brighton was there but magnified so many times.
The sun shone, the contestants ran, the crowds cheered, the bands played and everyone was smiling. Just magic.
One thing that struck me as really nice was the crowd who shouted out the names of the runners as they went by. They did not know them but some had their names on their vests so it was "well done Jim" "Mary keep it up" "John you are doing well". You could see those addressed personally got a great lift from this support. The family groups were also entertaining, the kids saying "where is Mum" "Is that Mum" "what number was she" and the shrieks and cheers and tears when they saw her followed by sweaty cuddles a quick drink and a "see you at 13 miles" as she disappeared into the crowd again
Events like this make the world seem rather fine. Lovely day
