Meet Jive!

Jive is sired by my old Border Collie Robbie, who sadly died in October last year.

When he was 8 weeks old, he was sold to a family that wanted a pet dog. Unfortunately things went wrong for his new owners and when Jive was 2 years old, he was passed on to a new family. They had him for less than 24 hours before they rang Jive's breeder and told her that they were afraid of him and wanted him out of their house. He had growled at them and nearly bitten their grandchild.

The breeder contacted me and together we went to collected him.

Jive came to live with me and my 3 dogs. He was in a sad condition. He obviously had had a tough life. He didn't trust people and he didn't trust himself.

I started training him to do heelwork to music and we even competed once. Jive settled a lot and gained confidence. But he did not get along with my other dogs. He tried so hard, but he felt pressured and it was obvious that he was anxious around them.

After 6 month I had to admit to myself, that Jive would never be happy in a pack of dogs. He needed a family of his own that could cope with him and the problems that his difficult past had left him with.

To let Jive move on to a new home was the hardest thing I have ever done, but it was the right thing to do.

And I was very lucky. Jens and Christina came into our lives and offered Jive the best home he could possible get. At the age of 3 years, he finally got to go 'home'. Home to a home where he could feel safe and truely happy.

Jens, Christina and Jive live only 20 minuttes drive from where my friend Helle, our dogs and I entertained this weekend, so in the break between our two performances, we went to visit them and have lunch.

It was fantastic to see Jive again. He looked so happy and relaxed. I got to do a little bit of heelwork with him and even though he hasn't worked since he left me, he still remembered what I taught him and we had so much fun together.

I have only visited him 3 times since he moved 4 years ago, but no doubt that he still remembers me. It was a wonderful reunion.
