Parking space
1. A gentle start to the day. One of us is out early to cycle 80 miles the other is back to bed with a good book.
2. Once I put the book down I wander out into the sun and cross Bellahouston Park. It is full. Full of large families, buggies and kids with picnics of crisps; teenage guys with their tops off and blue bags full of bevvy; girls with tatoo'd bits standing nearby and lots of dog walkers, the dogs rule this park.
3. I start running and instead of turning left and go down, I turn right and go up. I run through three parks in an hour - Maxwell is a multi cultural sports fest - cricket, baseball, football, frisbee. Queens is buggy central and posh tots called River are being coaxed and cajoled by exhausted cargo panted parents.
4. The other park is Cathkin. I had no idea it was there - only minutes from here. In it there rests an old football stadium. The team that played in it, Third Lanark, stopped playing in 1967 but the stadium is still here, the terracing, the goal posts and the pitch. It is spooky and odd and hidden. Later we head back up to take pictures and try to capture what it's like to discover this in your own city.
5. Both of us a little sun blushed and tired. Homemade chicken soup, ginger beer and a movie.
