The Battle of Britain, as recreated on the ceiling of The Tourmalet, was fought over the South of England in skies as blue and vivid and endless as those we have had over this fine weekend.

Not every pub has a famous battle in minature hanging from the ceiling; Spitfires and Hurricanes over the bar, the Messerschmitts of the Luftwaffe are over by the front door.
