DOUBTFIRE THE ORIGINAL

NO1 AND NO3 SOUTH EAST CIRCUS PLACE EDINBURGH EH3 This is the original shop This is the original shop that was used by madam doubtfire. I was out yesterday
and I took this photo.I used to pass here when I was 18. She would hang coats
and dresses out side.She smoked clay pipes.Now one part of the shop makes prints
the other sells paintings. I went into the shop for the first time and now of coarse its very clean. The story goes was that an artist saw the original lady outside the shop
and asked if he could paint her.When it was finished he called it madam doubtfire.
She then went back and put the name above the shop .Idont know her real name.
Sometime later Anne Fine was walking past with her baby in the pram she lived neer by.She like alot of people never went in.
I think she moved down to England sometime later and rememberd the name.
This area of Edinburgh is knowen as stockbridge. It, like many other places in the world has went from being a very poor area to a very ritch one.[ My father came from here].The reason I think was that the houses were very well built.
Madam doubtfire shop certainly would not have been there today.
