The Tap Root
Trees that have a deep tap root are difficult to transplant. They grow full and strong, and their strength is fed continually, from a place that's very far into the soil where the changes in the mood of the weather man don't effect them at all.
Friendships that have a deep tap root are difficult to move too. They can be exposed to winds and rain, scorching sun or bitter cold, but they receive their nutrients from a deep, deep place that has the power to sustain them through changes in all of life's seasons.
I stood, looking out, the final morning of our conference, past the Myrtle Trees and across the misty field, with my dear friend, whose faith runs deep. I found myself feeling such gratitude for the things I learn by being her friend. Although our lives grew from very different places, the tap root of our friendship goes deep into the heart of the very source of Love. It's a place where I feel safe, a place that is strong and able to provide shelter. Two trees, two friends. Deep roots.
