Ian Siegal at Åmål's Blues

Mr Ian Siegal - one of Britain's greatest bluesmen - plays at Åmål's Blues festival in Åmål, Sweden. Not much happens in Åmål - so much so that a Lukas Moodysson movie about bored teenagers set there was called Fucking Åmål - but they make up for it during the blues festival. There's blues gigs during the day on almost every street corner, in the bars, supermarkets, churches, on boats on the lake and on trains, and then they really shake it down at the dockside at night. There's a lot of great blues talent on show, but none of them can hold a candle to Ian Siegal's solo sets. I caught him again the following year in London.
