Preparation
Lesson 1 of photography school states that the best landscapes are based on watching the weather forecast, understanding the tides, sun position and angle etc.
My preparation for this photo was a view out of the plane coming into Edinburgh and thinking, "hmm, clouds look interesting", ran into flat and picked up camera and tripod then dash to South Queensferry 10 minutes into the Golden Hour. On arriving I found that my lens was filthy and the filters were equally covered in raindrops from the last shoot.
As the sun was slowly setting I was carrying out rudimentary maintenance on the camera and hoping I could clear everything before the great light disappeared. I think I just about got there...
