My 5 year old daughter certainly works (at her reading and writing) simply for the sensation, or enjoyment, she gets from it; I'm amazed by her progress with reading and writing, and she just can't get enough of it.

Here you see the way she likes to spend a lot of her free time: working away (in her own way of course ;-) ) at a phonics and writing workbook.
