Storied Silhouettes
These cut-outs are scattered all over our atrium. Each of them tells the individual story of a person helped by our projects. Some of them have just words, others have pictures too, and yet others, in a feat of technology, carry a bar code, which when scanned with a smart phone, will allow you to watch a short video of the person telling his/her story directly.
Collectively, these depict the very real and grave issues associated with food security across the world. That is one of the main topics (along with countries in conflict) to be tackled during our semi-annual meetings.
Within the space of the week, these meetings bring in over 2,500 government delegates, observers and press, along with 250 members of various civil societies. There are hundreds of meetings, seminars, information sessions (and some parties...), with a constant stream of limos delivering dignitaries to our door steps. We all play 'tour guide' to them, as they wander our hallways, looking lost in the maze of rooms.
Exciting times, but unbelievably stressful. I need a glass (or two) of wine.
More silhouettes and other stuff we're doing in and around the building.
