Blimey! This is my first emergency blip and I hadn't realised how potentially stressful it can be.
I'm certain that I won't get a decent chance to take any more photographs today so I've had to choose from the pitiful selection I was able to get this lunchtime. The weather has been less than agreeable in East Grinstead today and, being somewhat pushed for time, I didn't venture out very far.
A few hundred yards away from where I work is Our Lady & St Peter's Church. I can see the steeple from my desk. Just below the spire, flanked by a couple of blind arches, each surmounted by a small blind rose window, is a central arch filled with wooden slats. I suspect the steeple may actually be a campanile. The whole wall is covered in flaking old paint and stained with rain wash. I'd love to take a really good photograph of that section of the steeple but lack a lens suitable for the job.
This picture is a detail from the carving on the church's gate post; heavily photoshopped to bring out the fantastic grainy texture of the stone. I've taken it on Papa Bear who I brought to work today in hopes of getting some really good shots.
*sigh*
