Guess what I got back today? Exactly two weeks today i lost my car key in Edinburgh, and tonight i got the car back. Two weeks of taxis & trains each day to get to work and back cost me a packet!

I have one suggestion for the idiot politicians who want more people to use public transport:

Get from rural Perthshire to Dundee train station for the 7.08 train to Edinburgh (so that your in work for 8.30ish), then get the 16.28 train back and see how long it takes and how dis-joined our public transport really is.

Not only will it cost you £58.50 inclusive of taxi fares, but you will also have to stand from Waverley all the way to Leuchars.

Scotrail, Scotjoke more like. Every night has been the same, people crammed into the train and total lack of seats.

For comparison, less than £10 in diesel to drive, and if don't fancy parking in Edinburgh, park at Inverkeithing and pay about the same as parking fees for a return train ticket. 20 mins and your in Edinburgh....

In all my travels through Europe, 2 euros gets you further on cleaner, faster, more spacious trains, and I've never gone without a seat!


In other news: went to the blip flash-mob thing at the Scotsman building at lunchtime. Completely misjudged how long it would take to get down there and was 5 minutes late so missed the main event. Did see all the flashing as i was hurrying down the road, but by the time i got there the journo guy had headed back inside. Ah well, whats meant to be is meant to be....
