Gadget of the day
So, today we spent the day at Gadget Show Live. A huge exhibition space full of things you never knew existed, let alone realised you needed to make your life complete.
We had VIP tickets, which meant we had comfy seats for the live show, which was pretty much like a Gadget Show on tv except they were on stage in front of 5,000 of us. Interesting uses of technology during the show - voting by using the flash on your camera/phone, controlling a pc game through crowd movements and noise, fastest text wins a prize etc. We didn't win anything :(
The rest of the day was spent ambling around the exhibitors hunting down Gadget of the Day. I thought the best thing we saw was a packet of goo that is malleable for half a hour then sets rock hard in whatever shape you've put it in, called Sugru. However, Mrs BH decided that the above was better. It's basically a workmate with loads of tools built in, and arms that lock into place to be pillar-drill things, guides for table-saws, holders for circular saws and loads more. All the tools have slots in the box or round the outside. Very clever. But we didn't buy one - too heavy to bring back on the train, and we already have most of the tools.
We were generally a bit disappointed but also a bit chuffed. Disappointed that there wasn't as much domestic technology as we had hoped, chuffed because we already have a lot of the groovy stuff - we kept walking past stands saying "got one of those"! But it meant we had less difficult decisions to make about spending money. We came home with some brasso and a dust-buster - get us and our crazy ways!
