East Germany's Ministry for State Security, known as the Stasi, established an astonishingly broad network of informants. Of a population of 16 million, 400,000 people actively cooperated. The Stasi kept data on up to 6 million East German citizens.

Stasi misdemeanours led to demos in Leipzig that paved the way for the fall of the Berlin Wall. Former Stasi domestic espionage officers are barred from police work in Berlin.

These stickers(and similar) began appearing around Germany in October 2007 as a response to the recently introduced law to snoop on suspects harddrives..
I've spent most of the day working on images.. exhausting but satisfying..

On Tuesday morning I shot this retail outlet and learnt a little later about the closing of an era.


This Poverty Stencil, Berlin really got me thinking how privileged I am...
