Gas!

As I was saying..... got home last night to the smell of gas in the stairwell of the flats. Rang the Gas board, they said a man would be round within the hour. He arrived about 11.20pm and I warned him that most of the residents are elderly and would be in bed.

He was equipped with a long probe which he inserted into everyone's letter box and the gas was coming from the flat opposite mine. I rang Cath and she came to the door in hairnet and no teeth. It would seem that she must have left the gas on. She had spent the evening in a deep sleep on the sofa (no wonder!)

Anyway alls well that ends well, it was fortunate that photoJENic and I arrived back when we did. If I had been in my flat all evening or been away I dread to think what might have happened.

I made the gas man a cup of tea and he checked my meter. I could have got a great blip of him half in half out of my kitchen cupboard and I was tempted just to blip him but I didn't and to have asked his permission and explained about Bipfoto would have taken too long. So I made do with a photo of his van.
