A Grand Day Out
Had a really good day out with the family today. Up very early (7am) to get through to Edinburgh for 10am.
All week I've been walking past tents being built at the National Galleries on my way to work. I found out yesterday that it was for BBC's Bang Goes the Theory LIVE, and spoke to a girl on the way home about tickets who told me they were free, from 10am onwards.
Arrived well before ten, only to find it was actually 11!
So, we took part in some Lego challenge that was going on in the same area to turn 136000 4x4 blocks into a giant mosaic that started at 10am and would be complete by 4pm ish. The four of us did out bit putting together four squares which killed a huge amount of time (and we got the tickets no problem). We popped back later when it was 50% done and it looked great.
As for the Live show, it was brilliant. We all really enjoyed it, and the "interactive" area after the show was great, especially when the presenters came down and spent time with everyone. We even took part in a dodgy dance experiment that Dr Yan was running. He's even madder than on tele, but was a really good laugh. There were plenty of boys (young and old) smitten with Science "Babe" Liz Bonnin. Wont be surprised if i see several blips of her tonight, as she was very happy to pose for pictures when asked (they all were) and there were lots and lots of DSLRs out. At one point she even said she had camera envy, all these guys with lovely big cameras...
Returned home via Fife. Decided to go to Anstruther and finish the day off with fish and chips. I can now see why the famous chippy hasn't won another award since 2008. Service was crap! Food tasted good, but so it should after almost an hours wait. Wont be going back there again in a hurry.
I got loads of useful shots today, but liked this one the best. Methane gas pumped through some soapy liquid to create methane bubbles which were then set on fire.
