Iron Work, abandoned bridge

This is the old bridge that used to carry Route 66 over the Rio Puerco. It was still in use in 1972 when I came to New Mexico. Now it is blocked as unsafe to all but foot traffic. To say I have fond feelings for this bridge would be an understatement. It was one of the two ways in to the archaeological site where I was working which was the reason I had come to New Mexico.
I give thanks for the life of Dr. Cynthia Irwin-Williams, mentor and beloved friend.
