They kept on course ...

Today we made a tour by bike along the sunny right bank of the river Nieuwe Maas. At Leuvehaven you can find a memorial that reminds on the fierce battle of the Dutch soldiers in World War II on this point of the river bank. The memorial has the slogan: 'zij hielden koers' which means 'they kept on course'. In spite of the soldiers last efforts they lost the battle and (the centre) of Rotterdam was heavenly bombarded and damaged beyond repair.
