The Hermitage
Stopped off at this lovely place for a wee wander and break from my drive south. Despite the inconvience of having to work for a living, I did have a nice time up in Inverness.
The Hermitage was created by the Duke of Atholl some 250 years ago as an extension of the gardens of Dunkeld Hilton House Hotel. A scenic walk from the car park (just off the main A9 near Dunkeld) leads you to a viewing point known as Ossians Hall. You can also view the lovely waterfall from the bridge. For me, I wasn't content with the photos I got from either the hall or the bridge, so I ventured over and took a closer look. For this shot, I finally realised one of the benefits of my recently purchased ND4 and ND8 filters - just so I could truly capture the movement of the water without overexposing the shot. I can see these filters having a lot more use.
Once again, my visit here was short and sweet and I had to return to the van to continue my journey south. I had another site visit to cover, just south of Carlisle. The good news though - my mum was at home in Rosyth and I had time to stop for a cup of tea and a sausage sandwich..... Proper square sausage that is!
You want a closer look!
