Beauty

'Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy' - Anne Frank

Woke up this morning in a major grump after a night of almost no sleep. I was so tempted just to go back to bed and hide the day away but with the sun in the sky I decided instead to head out to the park and spend some time just chilling there. There's something very calming about the beauty of nature and today was one of those days where I just felt like I needed to sit and drink it all in for an hour or two.

Later I headed into church for a Palm Sunday service. There was actually a wonderfully photo opportunity when the Archbishop and all the people processed into the cathedral with waving palms but as someone's mobile phone had just rang as just as they burst into song singing 'hosannah' I though it might be pushing things if some poncey blipper then disrupted things further with their camera. I bet Jesus never had to cope with mobile phones, blippers and cameras back in the day! Still it was a magnificent sight - all the palms and people and coloured vestments - though it still doesn't making up for alomst 6 weeks of having given up coffee during Lent!

'Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature -- the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter'

Rachel Carson
