Ouch
For anyone who might want to know what a second degree burn looks like. Unfortunately, I am the one to dress his wound twice a day. It is repulsive and it oozes in the upper part where the skin is growing back. I know exactly why I am not a nurse or doctor. I don't deal well with visible trauma to the body. Yuk. I have to take a deep breath and tell myself " This is my son. I can do this. I have to do this." After the burn is cleaned, I have to apply a thick layer of cream followed by non stick gauze pads then wrap it all with gauze. I'm getting better at it now that I have done it a few times. This is an event neither of us will forget.
Kailey is off to stay with her Dad for Spring Break. Josh had to stay home for several return visits to the doctor this week. It will be nice to be able to spend a little time alone with him. He will be going off to college in the fall.
I spent the day in the garden planting and seeding. The perennials are growing exponentially with all of the rain. Maybe I can get the potatoes and onions in tomorrow......
