The List Lady

Long walk = achy feet

Today is my 13th wedding anniversary so, having sold the kids on eBay for a couple of nights (ok, they were at their Gran's), Hubbie and I went into London for a browsing day.

I worked in London for 15 years until the kids arrived (six and a half years ago) and Hubbie still works there. So getting the chance to have a good old wander round was a real treat.

(If you want to know what the photo shows, but not our route, please scroll to the bottom of the description!)

We started at Kings Cross and had a good wander round so I could see all the changes there and at St Pancras, then meandered along the road to Euston station. From there we got the tube to Leicester Square, then walked towards Trafalgar Square. We went into the National Gallery. spending some time there. We left and walked down Whitehall towards Parliament Square. Had a good look around the outside of the Houses of Parliament/Westminster Abbey then along Victoria Street where I used to work.

We picked up some lunch and ate it sitting in St James' Park. We then wandered through the park, along the Mall, taking in the sights of Buckingham Palace, then though Green Park towards the underground station. We caught the tube to Camden Town and mooched happily though all the different markets. Then off to Camden Road station to catch a train to Stratford. Once at Stratford we took a walk to try to get a better view of the Olympic Park - unfortunately the Green Way, which was apparently the best vantage point to view the park, has been closed for Crossrail development. So - back to the station to get the tube to Marble Arch for a wander along the shops on Oxford Street. Then we walked down to Piccadilly Circus to have dinner in TGI Friday's. Back to Kings Cross and now back home. Phew!

The photo above shows (l-r) St Stephen's Tower at the Houses of Parliament (more commonly known by the name of it's largest bell - Big Ben), the tower of St Margaret's Church and the side of the entrace of Westminster Abbey.
