River Avon In Batheaston
For my River Series, I today visited Batheaston, on the outskirts of Bath, to photograph the River Avon at the early/mid C19th Batheaston/Bathampton Toll Bridge, parking beside the Bath Brewery building just north of the river. It costs 60p to cross the bridge by car, but rather cheekily the same charge is made again when you drive back. Business was brisk, nonetheless.
It's very picturesque there, with an old mill wheel, a weir and fancy inns and hotels on both sides of the river, but the results were, perhaps predictably, like picture postcards and I respect you all too much to blip them. I walked along the river in both directions and preferred the shots I took there, although they have few landmarks to indicate where they were taken, and this one is the most minimal of all.
