long drive!
Had a meeting in Ft William, had to drive on a beautiful day but the weather was too bright to be any good for photos. Bought a second hand car yesterday to replace my dad's aging one so took it for the run. A lovely wee motor, ran nice and sweet.
Meeting was good, came back and stopped at Connell to drop someone off and then grabbed my one and only shot of the said bridge
It has a 500 foot span, 50 feet high, cantilever type. Opened May 1903 originally a railway bridge. 2,600 tons of steel cost £43.000. In 1914 a road ran alongside the railway, in 1966 it was converted to raod only when Beeching shut the railways ( God that man damaged the entire country's transport infrastructure) Finally it appeared in the film the Eye of the Needle in 1981 and while it was still a railway bridge, my brother in law rode his motor bike over it!
History over.
Dogs relaxing on the sofa after a good walk and methinks I may go to bed early for once and just chill with a book though the one I am reading is as boring as Hell!
Have a good night all blippers
