Marrakech - day 4
Last full day here before flying home tomorrow.
This is the seething mass of humanity that is Jemma El Fna square. We ate here last night at the food stalls as recommended by blipper Daily Dooby - a very cheap tasty meal had and no side effects!
A short walk today with some last minute shopping to do, with lunch for the third time at Cafe des Epices in the Souk - a modern, funky cafe that is a welcome oasis.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday in a fascinating city. Probably just what we expected really - chaotic, dirty, smelly, colourful etc, but equally relaxing as we lazed around in our riad.
Ready to go home though - it all gets a bit wearing after a while. Looking forward to seeing something in a shop and knowing the price, without the charade of a see-saw battle of wits that is haggling. Equally despite how enjoyable it's been a few things reminded me that despite being only 3 hours from London it's a completely different world:
1) Umpteen children on the street
2) A man last night being bundled into a white van that pulled up alongside him, with shady men with walkie-talkies orchestrating the move - very strange
3) Worse of all a man slapping a woman with such force today I'm surprised she was still standing, in full view of passers by...
Certainly not dull here.
