the long road ahead...

...or the reality which was a very short walk up a very small hill that was accompanied by moans and sulks of despair!

Apart from the attitude kicking in from the two young ones when we suggested a walk (I know, shame on us!), we had a lovely day the two Mothers and the two wee girls. Up a long valley which is spectacular, to a babbling river where we enjoyed a picnic, while being overlooked by towering fells. The sort of place that makes you fill up with joy that you are lucky enough to live here and quite happy to forget the grey and rainy days that happen just a wee bit too often!

In fairness the girls were lovely, throwing stones, chasing bobbing boats and splashing in ankle depth water - all toddler friendly pastimes - just don't mention going for a walk up a hill!
