Toad You So!
A friend and I went to Reffley Wood this evening to look for roding woodcock. We set off in plenty of time to be able to get some birding in along the way when we literally stumbled across this confiding toad, which just sat there and allowed me to get close enough for some shots.
It was a lovely evening, worthy of a midsummers day, and there is nothing quite like being in a wood as it's getting dark. We had some great views of pipistrelle bats that were feeding around our heads as we waited for it to get dark enough for the roding to begin.
We did get a brief glimpse of a roding woodcock before having to leave, so will have to return in the near future for a better view.
