The day after Earth day
The skies today have been a spotless blue. And everyone is out. There are large groups of cyclists and runners amid mothers carrying little ones on perambulators. In the park the fields are teeming with noisy teenagers playing baseball, soccer and another hockey-like sport with a net at the end of the sticks used to catch the ball when passed (someone can help me with the name). There's also an India vs Pakistan cricket match on a proper ground with much hollering in Hindi, proper gear and jerseys(green and blue). At the velodrome there are a few riders but most have hit the open roads. A day like today shouldn't be allowed to pass by. Apart from the cricket, most of the athletes are girls and I don't know why.
A colleague and I decide to go for a hike on the Tiger mountain. Summit #3 is a change in elevation of 2000ft covered over 3 miles. It was a quick climb and a quicker descent. I don't like climbing down. It requires more caution. Rained over soil as well as dry soil with loose gravel can be challenges. For a while, I am tailing a couple of ladies who are in the middle of a raging conversation on happiness - its external and internal factors. After a while, I find another climber whose pace is similar to mine and it is good climbing together at a steady pace without pause. There are many elderly climbers too, often more determined than the young. For days you watch pine trees crowding over the horizon, hiding it from view and then you are among them, under their dark cool shadows on a warm day, their tops reaching up to the sky.
