Osprey nesting site!

Looking across Bassenthwaite Lake to Dodd wood where the Osprey nesting site is.
Just opposite from here, near the Saw Mill cafe, is the Osprey viewing site. The Ospreys have successfully reared chicks here, every year, for the last seven years ( I think ). There are telescopes set up for the public to use ( free ), and there are lots of keen bird watchers who give up their time to answer questions. Well worth a visit! The site is a 20min steep walk from the cafe. ( excellent food and drink! )

To get here, we parked by the old Swan Hotel in Thornthwaite, and walked steeply upwards for about an hour and a half to the top of Barf. It can also be done by walking from the Whinlatter Visitor Centre. ( where you can Go Ape or hire mountain bikes or watch the nesting site on CCTV).

You can watch the live webcam if you google 'Cumbria Ospreys'.

You'll have noticed that our mini heatwave is back after a slight hiccup yesterday morning!

Chloe says 'hi'...all 3 goat kids are doing fine!
