Roman Wall of Colchester

I finally got round to attending one of the free walks exploring the Roman heritage of Colchester, we were lead on a two hour stroll around the walls and bombarded with so much information it was amazing!

I walk past part of the walls every day and only today did I discover that if you look closely you can see ancient imprints of ammonite fossils bricked into the wall!


we have so much heritage here but really don't appreciate it, it took a lot of fundriasing and fighting to stop housing going up over the UK's only known Roman Circus! hopefully this will become a proper tourist attraction in the future..
