Water, water...
Today we took a trip over to Stocks Reservoir in Bowland. We did eight miles around the reservoir in the most lovely weather and were very impressed with how well the whole estate is maintained and managed by North West Water / United Utilities. There is a very good little fishing centre that allows fishermen out onto the reservoir and provides all the equipment and support they need. (And some delicious locally produced ice-cream, I should add!). Apart from that, the water is peaceful and a haven for wildlife, as is the whole estate.
For those who think water should be free, it is worth thinking about how important and vast these places are - not just the water, but also the catchment area around. Not only does the estate provide water to the Fylde area, but it is also a wonderful free resource available for people like us to enjoy.
Well done NNW/UT!
